CANOEING, FISHING, WALKING, AND BIKING
You will be delighted by the canoeing, fishing, walking and biking opportunities that abound on and near Beaumarchais Manor.

Canoeing on the Morin River

If you are a canoeing enthusiast, your dream has come true.  A short 15 minute drive from the Beaumarchais Manor is the village of Crécy La Chapelle (The Chapel at Crécy) situated on the Grand Morin River.  This river is a tributary of the Marne River, which eventually becomes part of the Seine River. It is a peaceful river that flows through a lush, green valley. At Crécy either single or double occupancy unsinkable boats may be rented.  Each of these single or double occupancy boats can also accommodate one child and has a waterproof cooler for holding picnic items. At numerous sites along the river bank you can enjoy a leisure picnic among the poplar and willow trees. Boats may be rented at Crécy and after the 6 mile (10km) boat ride, or shorter if desired, boaters can leave their boats at designated places and be driven back to their cars in Crécy. The average canoe trip along the river lasts approximately two and one-half hours, but canoeists can spend the entire day riding the river if they wish.

Fishing the Morin River

Fishing enthusiasts have numerous opportunities to fish in the area. On the estate close to the manor are ponds, where aficionados can catch pike and carp. Large fish, such as trout, are in abundance on the non-polluted Morin. Fishing licenses are sold by the day or week. Many fishing devotees rent a boat at Crécy and spend the day fishing and are then driven back to their cars at Crécy.

Walking and Biking

Walkers
You will be delighted by all the wonderful walks you can take while visiting the manor, either in the 30 acre park surrounding the mansion or in the adjacent private woods. It is suggested that walkers bring sturdy shoes or boots to walk the property where, with a bit of luck, they see the deer, pheasants, partridges, hare and other small game roaming about.

Mountain Bikers
For those who want to experience a more challenging activity, we can lend you bicycles so that you can travel deep into the national forest of Crécy. Mountain bikes are available for rent at Guérard on the Morin from where you can follow the river as it winds its way toward Crécy.  Bikers who want a greater challenge are invited to climb to the Briard Plateau for a memorable and exhilarating experience.

Enjoy !
